Reporting to the Taxation Manager, the Taxation Accountant is responsible for the analysis and preparation of working papers to support the tax provision for the financial statements and tax returns.

Key Responsibilities

  • To conduct account analysis and preparation of working papers to support quarterly tax provision calculations and tax filing obligations;
  • To reconcile government income tax statements to accounting records;
  • To prepare various income tax returns;
  • To research tax issues using the Canadian Income Tax Act, Taxnet Pro and other research tools;
  • To ensure tax installments are made on a timely basis;
  • To analyze fixed asset additions and disposals for Canadian tax purposes.;
  • To prepare account reconciliations and related journal entries to ensure expenses are accrued in the proper month;
  • To compile home financial statements and other information requests from external property tax consultants;
  • To uphold and promote the organization’s values and philosophy relating particularly to ethics, morality, and integrity as set out in Revera’s Code of Conduct;
  • To complete all other duties as assigned by the Taxation Manager, Director of Taxation or VP Taxation.

 

Qualifications

  • Successful completion of an Accounting diploma or equivalent – required
  • Proficient in Microsoft applications including Excel, Outlook, Word and PowerPoint
  • Experience with preparing corporate tax returns is an asset
  • Strong written and verbal communications
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and tight deadlines
  • Enjoys problem solving and new challenges
  • Ability to work independently
  • High standard of integrity
