Reporting to the Director of Property Accounting, the Capital Accounting Manager will perform tasks of a general accounting nature with respect to capital asset financial statement line items and oversee a team of 3-5 direct reports. As part of these tasks, the Capital Accounting Manager reviews and approves specified journal entries and account reconciliations, and prepares cost reports and ensures compliance with accounting policies and procedures.

Key Responsibilities


  • To review and approve journal entries;
  • To review and approve balance sheet account reconciliations (e.g. capital and job cost accounts);
  • To provide auditors with financial information;
  • To ensure projects are capitalized appropriately including depreciation;
  • To review and approve monthly progress reports;
  • To review, investigate and analyze non-approved capital expenditures;
  • To recruit, train, develop and performance manage team;
  • To engage and motivate team to reach department goals/targets;
  • To work with the team to identify and implement process improvements;
  • To ensure correct and accurate preparation of trial balance accounts assigned to capital group;
  • To confer with Director of Property Accounting to identify any unusual transactions, prior to month end;
  • To perform overall analytical review of all assigned trial balance accounts prior to month end close and discuss with Director of Property Accounting any unusual trends;
  • To uphold and promote the organization’s values and philosophy relating particularly to ethics, morality, and integrity as set out in Revera’s Code of Conduct;
  • To complete all other tasks as assigned.



  • 5+ years of relevant working experience
  • Accounting designation (CA, CMA, CGA)
  • Experience with accounting and/or enterprise reporting systems
  • Strong financial accounting background with experience in preparation of working papers
  • Experience working with large capital or construction projects
  • Leadership experience managing 3-5 direct reports
  • Experience in project management
  • People and performance management experience
  • Problem solving skills
