Reporting to the Director, Financial Planning, the Manager, BP&A Developments will help ensure that the growth of the portfolio through Development properties will meet the financial targets controls established.  This role will provide financial controls and business stewardship during the development phase of Revera properties that meet or exceed the requirements established by an independent assessor.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Establish and refine process related to budget/forecast and analyze total spend for Managed Developments by project commencing with the 2018 Planning cycle;
  • Obtain budget details from department/project leads and input into Cognos;
  • Work with department leads to understand development capital and G&A budget;
  • Generate budget presentations and analysis for discussion purposes;
  • Produce eight quarter rolling Cash Flow Forecast;
  • Establish and adjust as needed, monthly process on actuals reporting and analysis for Managed Developments;
  • Establish financial and business framework and ongoing governance around current and upcoming Revera development properties;
  • Coordinate monthly/quarterly discussion of Developments spend with department leads as required;
  • Liaise with Treasury and Property Development to provide cash flow funding requirements, draws and reporting on monthly basis;
  • Establish/recommunicate protocol around release of funds based on completed construction;
  • Coordinate with Property Development on monthly updates to SLT;
  • Corroborate assumptions/analysis provided by Property Development;
  • Create dashboards for active managed developments;
  • Attend Site visits as needed;
  • Liaise with and act as the point-person with Tax, Treasury, Legal and Accounting departments;
  • Establish internal process/schedule to enable Development team to match invoices against pre-established budgets to facilitate approval for payments;
  • Play an active role in Development meetings;
  • Play lead role in communicating finance/budget requirements;
  • Identify, research and resolve financial issues that arise;
  • Prepare and present what-if scenario analysis;
  • Reposition investment analysis and ensure return analysis vs. investment takes place;
  • Develop business model for Managed Developments and potential developments which incorporates sufficient contingencies (e.g., 10% industry standard) for changes in drawings and other unexpected costs;
  • Ensure and enforce formal documentation and processes around Capex Admin and Administration for operational costs (FF&E, IT) on Managed Developments;
  • Establish and enforce robust DOA procedure around construction related costs and details to support change orders;
  • Uphold and promote the organization’s values and philosophy relating particularly to ethics, morality, and integrity as set out in Revera’s Code of Conduct; and
  • Other duties, as assigned.


Required Education, Credentials and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Commerce/Accounting or Finance, MBA/Masters considered an asset;
  • 5 plus years of related Finance experience;
  • Experience in healthcare / hospitality industry & knowledge of regulatory standards is an asset;
  • Strong problem solving and analytical skills with ability to make sound financial recommendations;
  • Experience in business case and data analysis for decision support;
  • Confident in building and maintaining strong relationships with senior management;
  • Portrays a professional and positive image as a representative of Revera;
  • Experience evaluating corporate performance data including internal and external benchmarking;
  • Strong knowledge of business intelligence tools;
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office;
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills; and
  • Project management and planning skills an asset.
